About this design
This pattern is adapted from an object titled Large Dish with Artichokes, made in Turkey, Iznik, Ottoman period (1299–1922), c. 1535–40 (fritware with underglaze-painted design). It is in the collection of The Cleveland Museum of Art, which releases the image under CC0 (public domain). The museum notes: "Ceramic vessels and tiles produced in Iznik, Turkey, for the Ottoman court in Istanbul represented the finest Islamic ceramics."
The chart uses 18 DMC colours and 8,381 full cross stitches; the background is left unstitched so the fabric shows through. On 14-count Aida it measures 21.8 x 22.0 cm (8.6 x 8.6 in).
